Losing weight is easy, but it's not the goal.
I received a comment from one of our site visitors, which essentially said 20yearsdieting.com was not focusing on the point of losing weight. I replied, " Yes, you are right; losing weight is easy. If the sole goal is to lose weight, the formula is simple: burn more calories than you eat. Simple.
The trouble is keeping the weight off when you drop thirty pounds. Keeping the weight from returning is the part where a healthy lifestyle is a crucial factor in keeping the weight off. It's a daily battle not to backslide or stay consistent without cheating yourself. " Consistency is a key to a healthy lifestyle. It’s constantly chipping away at attaining a goal one small step at a time.
How am I defining a healthy lifestyle? Over the years, my definition has evolved to the following: A healthy lifestyle leaves you fit, energetic, and at reduced risk for disease, based on the choices you make about your daily habits. Good nutrition, daily exercise, and adequate sleep are the basis for prolonging good health. Doing everything to reduce wear and tear on your body at the hormonal level is also helpful.
Doing what is needed to protect and maintain your cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, immune, and other body systems depends on a continual supply of nutrients to feed cell growth and metabolism. Taking control of and managing stress is another avenue for protecting yourself at a hormonal level. Essentially, doing what is necessary to reduce stress in your life may help to increase the quality of your health and lifestyle.
A healthy lifestyle consists of good nutrition, regular sleep, daily activity, and good stress management. Reducing your saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol will help manage weight and allow your cardiovascular system to work at an optimal level. Consider selecting vegetables, fruit, and protein for your eating habits.
Again, losing weight is easy; keeping it off in a healthy way is the challenge.
